Travellers acquires historic boutique hotel
Travellers, a regional accommodation group, has acquired the landmark boutique hotel on Byng St in Orange, NSW.
Once a family home built in c. 1896, the front of the Byng Street hotel is the original homestead “Yallungah”, the property was designed by architect, William Lamrock and is considered a significant piece of Orange NSW’s historical architecture. Prior to being transformed into a boutique hotel, Yallungah remained as a family home.
Yallungah was restored to its original grandeur and expanding upon this to create a beautiful boutique hotel that can be shared with the community and visiting guests. Yallungah has now been restored to highlight its heritage features, including the slate roof, internal and external timber joinery and characteristic “buff” brickwork, which are recognised as significant in defining the neighbourhood character.
The vision for the restoration and expansion has been to bring life into the building that would intrigue the guests. Inspiration has been drawn from the quirky details of the existing building, local artists, the surrounding landscape and the history of the region. The mixing of colour, pattern and texture with reclaimed and revamped elements work beautifully to create this bespoke hotel experience.
The hotel hosts 22 rooms and surrounded by the beautiful Orange wineries, bars, restaurants and galleries. The property hosts a range of room types from the impeccably refurbished historical suites in the original Yallungah house through to the modern guest suites and rooms and in the new section of the hotel. The property has a beautiful atrium with fireplace and restaurant as part of the guest offering.
“We’re excited to build on this property’s rich history, using our expertise to create an exceptional guest experience” said Craig Smith, Managing Director of Travellers Group.
“We look forward to welcoming all guests, past and present, to the newly established hotel” added Mr Smith.
As part of the acquisition, Travellers will be renaming the property to honour its heritage, Yallungah Boutique Hotel. The deal was brokered by Nic Simarro from HTL Property.
